First EML High School Club Created!

Region 9 PTA Emerging Minority Leaders (EML) are excited to have created our FIRST High School EML Club!

With the support of the American Fork High School Administration and Counseling Office our students have created the new CIA Club (Caveman Inclusion Association).

We have an exciting school year of activities created to encourage education, respect and inclusion of the diversity that makes American Fork High School the great school that it is.

The AFHS CIA Club introduced themselves with a Homecoming Tailgate Booth this past weekend. Students had the chance to play a matching game based on 8 countries and cultures represented by our students. If able to match all 8 countries and cultures in 10 second or less in less than three tries, students were able to enter a raffle to win one of 2 $25.00 Visa Gift Cards or a $50.00 Visa Gift Card. Winners will be drawn at the AFHS CIA Mentor Lunch on Wednesday September 26th.

It was great fun to see students proud of their knowledge of other cultures and countries and a few who walked away proud to have learned something new! Thank you to the AFHS Administration and Counseling Office for their support of this new program.

Mix It Up! October 20, 2012

Join the movement of schools who are participating in a National Day of Mix It Up!

From a Mix It Up Lunch or Mix It Up Classroom Activities, mixers for students encourage students to step out of their comfort zone and get to know students around them, learn more about each other, and find ways to identify and celebrate their diversity.

Mix It Up Mixers can be planned and held my school PTA communities in small groups and large.

Region 9 PTA's Emerging Minority Leaders (EML) have set a goal to see ALL Region Elementary Schools hold a Mixer before 2013!

Please visit our Mix It Up Page on our Region 9 PTA EML Blog for information, activities, posters and coloring pages:
